History

Mukiria Technical Training Institute started in 1985 as a youth polytechnic. It was assessed and upgraded to a Technical Training Institute by then Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology in 2011 and started its operations in 2013. The first intake was in January 2014. The vision of the institute To be a Center of excellence in the development and provision of innovative Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in Kenya and beyond. And the mission. To nurture and impart Technical Vocational Education and Training(TVET) knowledge, skills and attitudes through research, innovation and technology for self reliance and National Development. Its objective is to offer hands on training in technical skills with strong component of entrepreneurship for self employment which is in line with our motto Excellence in skills and competence. The institute targets all students who are unable to access University Education. This is in line with Kenya Vision 2030 where the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are one of the key drivers to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing middle level income country, providing a high delivery of life to all its citizens by 2030 in a clean and secure environment. Its located 9 km from Meru and 6 km from Meru town and 6 km from Nkubu along Meru- Embu highway.
